It brings out our primal instincts that have been somewhat suppressed by all the comforts of the modern life and helps in instilling a sense of respect for nature and its beauty and also dangers. Going on a father-son hunting/camping trip is something that every man should experience at least once. Apart from learning how to deal with situations where the perks of technology are not available, since most of the time is spent just waiting and sitting still, it provides the perfect chance for discussions on topics that can range from family dynamics and relationships to theology. Such trips will form memories that last throughout one’s life and can be the foundation of the basic character of the son.
While not as ritualistic as sports or hunting, an event that every boy goes through with his dad is a trip to the barber shop. It is an introduction to a world that is considered a temple of manliness, since almost every boy waits for his confirmation as an adult with a small growth of facial hair. It is a rite of passage to learn to shave and to wear a tie from your dad.
