Fall Activities for the Kids

Fall Fun—What Are Your Plans?

Activities for Fathers and Children

Fall is a beautiful time of year when the weather is not too hot and not too cold, which makes it the perfect time to enjoy fall events with the kids. If you are a single dad and looking for fun things to do with your kids in and around the Jacksonville, Florida area then look no further as we have a list of all the best fall spots!

Memorable Fall Festivals

Fall festivals are a great way to get away and spend some time with your children and make some loving memories. Sykes and Cooper Farms located in Elkton, Florida offers tons of fall-themed fun. They have hayrides, a pumpkin patch, and farm animals your little ones can feed. They also have an award winning corn maze. This is about an hour drive from Jacksonville, so it will give you plenty of time to talk to your kids on the way. Another option about the same distance is Conner's A-Maize-Ing Acres Farm. They too have a hayride and corn maze, they also have a hay jump where your children can jump into a big pile of hay and a corn-cannon that launches corn into the air.

If your kids are a little older or braver, then you may also want to consider taking them to the local area haunted houses. Be sure to know your kids level of enjoyment of scares so that they will have a good time. Night Terror’s is the biggest haunted house in the area, and also billed as one of the scariest. Haunt Nights is another haunted attraction sure to elicit screams and fun. And then there is of course the old favorite, trick or treating. Cool dad’s even dress up in costume with their children. If you are really brave, you could even throw a Halloween party for your children and their friends.

Another idea is to head to your old favorite vacation spots and make a full weekend trip of it. Pack up the kids and head out on the open road. Head to the beach, cabins, or other fun location. Even just a car trip to see the leaves change (you may have to drive a bit north to really see it), play some ball and enjoy a picnic can be a great day.

There are also many other fall events that change each year. The Jacksonville Zoo often hosts a “Boo at the Zoo” event, there are often many local pumpkin patches, fairs, carnivals, football games, and more. Keep an eye on local events and have fun with your children this fall.

Remember to bring a camera too because these are never-to-be-repeated moments that will live in your heart forever!
